I found that there were a couple of rather major bugs in v 1.00 - one which actually caused the game to crash, and another the still prevented running WizWar without admin privileges on Vista and Win7. I appologize for the sloppy testing on my part. I just released a corrected version v1.01. Barring any major bugs, this will probably be the last version I'll be able to publicly release. If you're planning to download it, I suggest doing so soon, since I'll have to take it down at the of January.
The file is located here: http://www.wizwar.com/ol

Bug Fixes
- Removed Opportunity Fire from card list. Previously on the card definition was removed but it was still part of the deck, which caused a crash when trying to run the game.
- The program was still looking in the Program Files folder for the ClientIDs file, this prevented it from running on Vista and Win7 without administrator privileges.

I found a couple of small bugs in version 1.01. None of them are game breaking, but I thought I'd squeeze out a quick release while I still could. Download it fast, since it will be gone after 1/30.
WizWar v. 1.02 Release Notes
Bug Fixes
- Touch attacks couldn't target large objects in neighboring square (ex. Elfin Handiman couldn't dispel a "Solid Stone" in the square next to him).
- When run in dedicated server mode, the program would crash when closed in certain cases (the crash would be invisible
to the use, but would generate a Crash.log entry). |

Since my contract with Tom Jolly expired as of 1/30/2010, I took down the Wiz-War server and will shortly remove the Wiz-War program downloads (can't seem to log into the FTP server currently).
I think I did find a Client-size hanging bug in version 1.02 (probably in version 1.01 as well) - thanks to Alienbrain for catching it. I will try to fix this bug and release a patch that can be used by those who already have the game (I believe this will not violate the terms of my agreement). |

I have uploaded Computer Wiz-War v1.03. This version fixes a nasty Client-side hang-up bug that was present in versions 1.01 and 1.02. Since my contract with Tom Jolly is now expired, this version is only made available to those who already have a previous version of the game. For this reason the ZIP file is encrypted and the password consists of the first 3 words from the first paragraph of the Playing Instructions that can be brought up on any previous version of the game form the "Help/Playing Instructions" menu. The password contains NO SPACES, but has all other punctuation and capitalization. If that's too confusing for anyone, then email me (mdaneman@sbcglobal.net) the executable for any previous WizWar version and I'll email you the password.
You can get it here: http://www.wizwar.com/ol
WizWar v. 1.03 Release Notes:
Bug Fixes
- Fixed client hang-up bug that happened when the client received an out-of-order game state update and requested a refresh from the server
- Game Log and Server Log in server window will now display up to 1000 lines (previously only displayed 20).
- "Random Number" card was trying to use a non-existent font, now it uses a font that's actually installed |

I missed it?!?!??!?!?!?!?!
BAH!!
Alien Brain - I have not forgotten that I owe you a but-kicking still from the old online version of WW on TEN...
Considering I may have authored the oldest thread on this topic I thing I should get double-secret-probation-grandfathered in on this...
I'm curious though - are there many WWO players - is it easy to find a game like ti was on TEN? |
